May - 5 : Go-gatsu
A calligraphy workshop will take place in Kitasenju, a town in northern Tokyo. The teacher will help you to handwrite Japanese characters with the technique of Shodo, the Japanese calligraphy.
Boso-no-Mura is an open-air museum operated by Chiba prefecture, has a park with exhibits of Japanese buildings backing to the old Japan of 150 years ago. A number of hands-on events are held during this festival, good for families. Admission: 300 JP Yen/ Adult (Free for children under 15 years old)
With a history of over 700 years, Sanja Matsuri is one of the three great Edo(Tokyo) Matsuri festivals. During the 3-day festival, all the streets around Sensoji temple will be jam-packed with viewers and parade performers and that is the headlight of this festival.
The Jindai Botanical Gardens (神代植物公園) is one of Tokyo Metropolitan Parks located in Chofu city. The gardens have 5200 roses in 409 different varieties, blooming in spring and autumn.
Tokyo Metropolitan Islands Promotion Corporation holds an event to promote agricultural, forestry, and marine products all from the islands of Tokyo Prefecture. Traditional art performances will also take place at the stage. Admission is free.
