Founded more than 1000 years ago, Hikawa-jinja Shrine is a historical shrine lies in a very central area of Tokyo, surrounded by modern buildings. During this festival, large doll floats and Mikoshi(miniature shrine) will parade around the streets in Akasaka town.

Akasaka Hikawa-jinja Shrine Festival (Reitaisai Festival)

September 15th(Fri)-17th(Sun) 2017
Location: Akasawa, Minato-ku, Tokyo

15th (Fri) in the evening from 18:00 to 21:00 :
Holds the night parade with large Dashi floats starting from Sumitomo Fudosan Building to Akasaka 5-chome Block.

16th(Sat) in the afternoon from 13:00 to 15:00 :
Holds a parade with large Dashi floats and Kikoshi carrying by kids, starting from Akasaka Primary School to Akasaka Sacas.

17th(Sat) from 11:30 to 15:30:
The highlight of this festival holds the largest parade all around the Akasaka district with large doll floats and Mikoshi carrying. The parade starts from/to Akasaka Hikawa Shrine, by way of Akasaka Sacas (at 14:30). A ceremony is held at Akasaka Sacas at 14:00 and Kabuki actors will join the parade from Akasaka Sacas.

On 16th and 17th from 18:30 to 21:00, Bon dance festival is held at Akasaka Hikawa Shrine where many food stalls will stand.

On 17th, Monkey Shows will be on at Akasaka Hikawa Shrine. (Between 11:00-18:00, irregularly scheduled)
